What is Coolsculpting®?

Coolsculpting® is an FDA approved non-invasive permanent fat reduction. It utilizes vacuum and cold technology to safely cool fat cells and kill them without damaging the skin. Fat cells are the most receptive cell in the body to temperature changes. When they are cold they crystallize, change shape, and die in a process known as cryolipolysis. Your body then disposes of these fat cells through the lymphatic system. In a treated area you can expect to see a 20-25% permanent reduction in fat.

How do I know how many cycles I will need?

Coolsculpting is done in cycles, a cycle is the period of time that the hand piece is attached and the area is being treated. Each cycle reduces the fat in the area by 25% and typically each area needs multiple cycles for the best results. During your consultation your provider will help you set realistic goals, examine the area to be treated, and come up with a plan of how many treatments you will need and placement of the hand pieces.

What can I expect during my treatment?

During your treatment photos and your weight will be taken to track your progress. Your provider will mark the area to be treated noting areas where pockets of stubborn fat have created “peaks.” Once the area has been marked you will get comfortable in our coolsculpting suite in a cozy chair with blankets, pillows, and your favorite show. The area to be treated is prepped with a pre-treatment wipe to cleanse and protect the skin, a gel pad is applied to protect the skin, and then the handpiece is positioned on the skin. Once the handpiece has been placed and is secure the cooling process is started and you can relax until the timer goes off. A quick two minute massage is then performed to break up the crystallized fat cells and increase your results.

What does it feel like?

When the handpiece is applied you will feel it suction on, it’s not painful or uncomfortable. We have the client relaxed on a reclined chair with pillows, blankets, a beverage, and Netflix of course!
