How Does HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

HALO combines two collagen-stimulating wavelengths: one ablative and one nonablative. Here’s how they work:

  • Ablative lasers remove an outer layer of damaged skin, which triggers the skin to heal and treats deeper concerns like scarring and lines. This approach typically involves a longer recovery time.
  • Nonablative lasers are less aggressive, but they also provide less dramatic results, targeting things like pigmentation and minor texture issues.

When these lasers work together, they target both mild surface-level issues and deeper concerns with as little downtime as possible.

What Does HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing Treat?

We use HALO on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, and legs to treat concerns such as:

  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Large pores
  • Scarring
  • Rough skin texture
  • Skin laxity

If sun damage or hyperpigmentation are big concerns for you, we may recommend combining your treatment with BBL, which is amazing for gently reducing dark spots.

What Does HALO Laser Skin Resurfacing Feel Like?

HALO is more comfortable than other fractional resurfacing treatments. The main sensation you may feel is some warming on your skin. We’ll use a topical numbing agent to keep you comfy. Plus, the device has its own cooling system that monitors your skin temperature to make sure you’re safe and not too warm the entire time.

What Is HALO Recovery Like?

The recovery process is pretty quick and easy after a HALO treatment. Your skin will be warm and tight for a couple of days. You may also notice bronzing, a rough texture, and flaking. However, you can wear makeup after 24 hours to cover this up, and most people return to work after just a few days.

Your skin will be extra sensitive to the sun for a few weeks after your treatment, so you’ll need to wear plenty of SPF, keep your skin hydrated, and avoid direct sun exposure as much as you can.

When Will I See Results After HALO?

You’ll start to see results within a few weeks, and you should notice your skin looking better and better for the next few months as your body continues to produce new collagen.

One of the awesome things about HALO is that it only requires 1 or 2 treatments, while other lasers can take 5 to 6 sessions to deliver the best results. We’ll talk with you at your consultation about skincare products that can complement and preserve your results for as long as possible.
